LIPOSUCTION OR LIPOSCULPTURE

If you have excess fat localised at the hips, outer thighs (trochanteric region), the inner thighs or knees, liposuction, also known as lipoaspiration or liposculpture, can certainly improve your figure.

HOW DOES THE INTERVENTION GO?

Your liposuction is usually performed as outpatient surgery under local aesthetic or general anaesthesia, as required by the extent of the areas to be treated.

Your plastic surgeon will perform tiny incisions, into which micro-cannulas will be introduced that gently aspire excess fat.

Before a stable result is obtained and post-operative swelling and bruising disappear, you will need to wait several weeks. During these four to six weeks, you will also need to wear a compression jacket so that your skin regains its pleasing appearance.

Among the instructions to be followed after your liposuction, you will need to avoid exposure to the sun for as long as haematomas remain. You will see the final results of your liposuction after three to six months.

POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS

Although every surgical procedure may involve some risks and complications that the patient has no option but to accept, your aesthetic surgeon will make a point of reducing their likelihood of appearing by choosing the technique best suited to your medical condition. Complications such as bleeding, wound or prosthetic infections and healing failure, although relatively rare, can occur with any type of surgery. This document was written as a supplement to the information you will receive during consultations. This text is not exhaustive, and cannot replace a consultation with a specialist, although it can answer some questions or give rise to others. Each patient will receive full and detailed information on her own medical status and the particular procedure chosen.
